The International Association of Color Manufacturers (IACM) hosted the second Global Color Conference on ‘Making an Impact: Using Color to Safely Enhance Food and Beverage’, at Chicago’s Marriott O’Hare from September 30 – 01 October 2014, which was highly successful. It offered leading experts the opportunity to come together to share insights about innovation in product development within the colour industry and the latest developments in colour safety and regulations from leading experts in industry, communications, and government. The Conference highlighted the industry’s ability to collaborate and innovate to meet global challenges.
- Carl Mroz, Colorcon gave a presentation entitled ‘European Consumer Perception and Attitudes to Food Colour’;
- Valerie Rayner, FMC Health & Nutrition gave a presentation entitled ‘Colouring Foods – EU Regulatory Approach’;
- Dirk Cremer, DSM gave a presentation entitled ‘Conceptual Framework for ‘Natural’ (Colours)’ at the opening day of the conference as part of the NATCOL Panel on EU Regulatory Issues.
The Panel was well received, and there remains a lot of interest in Colouring Foods and possible future educational opportunities on all three topics.
